Scouts from all Troops in the District join the Winchester Explorer Units. In fact anyone living locally and aged 14-18 can join - you don't have to previously been a Scout and you don't have to live in the District!

We are Winchester's activity-based Explorer Unit. We meet weekly during term time and take part in an exciting programme chosen by our Unit members.

Over recent years we've tried our hand at a full range of activities; scuba diving in Shirley; caving in Priddy; climbing at Calshot; walking in Wales; cycling around Winchester; sledging in Switzerland; canoeing at Lakeside and Trek Carting in Aldershot. We've all had the opportunity to go camping in the Brecon Beacons; the New Forest; the Alps; Pinsent and Croatia. Not to mention the evenings we've had in the hut; ready-steady-cooking; Scrabble with spaghetti; origami; geology….!

All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Sections who are between the ages of 14 and 18 are members of a Young Leaders Unit. In Winchester we meet monthly and combine leadership training with social activities. The Young Leaders' Scheme helps us to make a valuable contribution to our community and give service to others.
