Data Protection (GDPR) Training & Validation

GDPR Training is a mandatory module for all appointments. It covers the basic information that you need to know in relation to the General Data Protection Regulations, what this means for your role and for Scouting and how to effectively align with it. The topics covered are:
  • Personal Data
  • Individuals' rights
  • Consent
  • Accountability & Governance


Scout GDPR training is only available as e-learning. The e-learning itself should not take more than some 30 minutes. There are three steps:
  • First, read the FAQs at e-learning FAQs.
  • Second, watch the video guide for using e-learning before you begin the e-learning. This can be viewed here.

Getting Validated and Updating your Compass Records

  • This e-learning module does not produce a certificate at the end of the module
  • You will need to speak with your Group Scout Leader or one of the Training Advisors in your Group. They can validate the module for you against the validation criteria
  • The two images below detail what you will be validated on by your Training Adviser.

  • This module appears on new members’ training records on Compass under the Getting Started training
  • Current members need to have this module added to their Personal Learning Plan by a Training Adviser once validated.
