The Group was formed in
the late 1970’s as a sponsored group to serve
the children of army personnel when the base was home
to the Royal Army Pay Corp. Due to changes by
the Ministry of Defence the emphasis to consolidate
serving military members has meant the base, now known
as the Adjutant General Corp, serves the wider community
as well.
Over the years the
military involvement has lessened and the Administrators and
Leaders are all generally from the local community,
although we are still officially sponsored by
the Adjutant General Corps. The three sections currently
meet at venues in South Wonston.
The group is always looking to
expand and would like to hear from young people wishing
to join Scouting and anyone who would be interested in
taking on a leadership role particularly with
the Beaver Colony. No prior experience is
necessary as the group has a very supportive network and
a full training programme is available.
